At least 50 people have been killed in a passenger train in Taiwan. Hundreds of others were trapped in the wreckage .
The train packed with local tourists derailed in a tunnel after a maintenance vehicle reportedly sliden to the track. The train traveling south from Taiwan capital was packed with people ahead of what is along holiday weekend, just as it was entering the tunnel it was delayed by a lorry that slipped from a construction side.
Rescuers work to free those trapped in the carriage with almost 500 people on board, many has been standing up, one of the workers said the lorry slide off the road and crash into the train which made all the front carriages damaged.
Some of the passengers were able to work through to safety but the mangud wreckage blocking inside of the Taiwan made others to make use of the top train to escape. An Ambulance carried the injured people to local hospitals, one of the injured victim said she was thrown to the floor which made her bleed.
Family members gathered to identify the dead, the lost of lives left a shocking the National Holiday meant to be time to bring loved ones together.
The president of Taiwan described it as heartbreaking.
